The Question: Marijuana; should it be legal?
The Answer: No, simply no. I don’t care that its harmful, but it is. There are varying statistics, but the one that sticks out to me is that one “joint” contains as much tar as ten cigarettes. Ridiculous. I know people smoke all the time, and it is something that has become accepted as the norm, but it is un-natural; you’re lighting paper and vegetation on fire and drawing the smoke into your body. I’m not a doctor, but something tells me filling your innards with smoke, marijuana or otherwise, isn’t good and will harm you.
The argument has been made “legalize it and less people will do it because the mystery will be gone”. Horseshit! If anything people will do it more. Except when it’s legalized people will be paying out the ass for it. Is that what you want cheech?
The hard and fast truth is that marijuana, though low risk compared to other drugs, can cause problems for people who over indulge. I have friend, let’s call him Kevin, who started doing it in grade 8, by grade 10 he was a daily user. He still is to this day, except he is a burn out. He has also developed schizophrenia because prolonged use of marijuana dries up the serotonin gland the brain. Those are cold hard facts, not opinions. Over the years Kevin and I drifted apart. He was a heavy user, and I, well when offered I often told people “Baby, I am the drug! People take me for a good time”.
I was never interested in trying Marijuana. However, I’m the type that if I had wanted to I would have. No question. I was just never interested.
